I was hired by Tedx to do the hair and makeup for the Tedx Portland promotional transit and billboard campaign in 2017. I did hair and makeup on over 40 of the biggest creative names in Portland. The campaign is featured on the Tedx Portland website, on billboards and buses across the city.

I was hired to shoot photos for Adobe's 2016 Creative Jam in Portland, Oregon. 

The concept the teams worked on was sustainability, and the apps they produced with the new XD were so cool. 

It was a super-fun night filled with donuts, ideas, talks and collaboration.

My photos from the event were featured on the Adobe blog, across Adobe social media, as well as on the local nightly news.

Portland Center Stage was gearing up for its run of Great Expectations, and they hired me to do makeup for the publicity photos. 

It was so cool to help bring these characters to life and use makeup to tell their stories. From cold but beautiful Estella to ghostly Miss Havisham, I was encouraged to be creative with my techniques and color palette.

I was hired to shoot Vogue & the CFDA's annual Fashion's Night Out event. My photos from the event ran in Portland Monthly and various Vogue media.

Simple was re-vamping its mission statement and internal purpose campaign and hired me to shoot the photos for it. I ended up photographing real customers all over Portland, as well as the employees at work. 

The final piece that the team unveiled was so beautiful. The words were so moving, and it was really cool seeing how the photos I took complemented those words. Working with Val, Nicolas and the Simple marketing squad was a real treat. The whole shoot was really inspiring to me because there was freedom to find my own meaning and subjects in their message. Plus, they trusted me to shoot the whole thing on film, which is always a bonus.

It's rare that you get to sit in the room where everyone in a company watches the piece you were a part of being screened, and employees are moved to tears and tell you so. It was probably one of the coolest moments of being a photographer!

Simple started as a reaction to the financial collapse and is a bank that eschews all the traditional "bank-ish" things: there are no overdrafts, no hidden fees, no weird regulations and rules that bite you later on. They're making working outside the system work for customers, and I 100% get behind their mission statement. It was such an honor to be a part of this project!

Update: Sadly Simple has ended, but these photos are more special to me because of it :)

I founded and ran an independent digital and print magazine about personal style. Over the years we reached an online readership of 400,000 reads per month and grew a worldwide network of creative contributors!

On a daily basis, I collaborated with friends new and old all over the world to create original content, editorials, stories and ongoing projects. I acted as the creative director, handling everything from designing the magazine to photographing editorials, to doing hair, makeup and styling. I also marketed the magazine, including getting it into print and for sale at Skylight Books in Los Angeles and Tender Loving Empire in Portland.

Design Week Portland is a mega-marathon of inspiration that spans the city for a week in October. Such amazing spaces as the Wieden + Kennedy offices and Jolby & Friends open their doors to let people hang out, get creative, and make things with their peers and friends in the design community.

It's a crazy endeavor: over 50 locations throughout the city participate each year.

Once a year in Portland, Oregon, Andy Baio and Andy McMillan host the festival that brings in creatives, out-of-the-box thinkers, tech innovators, and independent spirits of all kinds for 3 days of food, music, talks by some of the most inspiring and creative people, games, Kickstarter launches and random meet-ups. You do not get the usual cheesy or jargon-filled talks of most conferences, but a truly fresh perspective on being creative and independent in your work and life.

In September 2015, I took on the lead photographer role at Tuesdays on Tillamook, a Portland creative collective off N. Tillamook St. 

My concept was GIRLBOY GIRLBOY, all about gender ambiguity and androgyny. The underlying theme was unity. 

We gathered for TONT's biggest creative endeavor yet, with a full crew and a group of male and female models. Together we created this conceptual shoot. 

Shot entirely on Ektar 100 film, this shoot was a true experiment in pushing the light and working with old techniques to make something new. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out, and it ended up being a great portfolio piece for everyone involved.

I attended the 2013 XOXO Festival with a press badge this time. I was hired by The Guardian after my 2012 series on the festival to shoot the event for a story on the changing direction of the tech world for their new Sunday magazine The Observer.

Jessica Caldwell of Machine Apparel hired me to shoot and do makeup for her winter lookbook. 

Together we headed out to the Oneonta Gorge in Oregon, shooting on film in an ice- and wind-storm.

I was hired by the fashion designer of Lykke Wullf to do hair and makeup for her spring lookbook in Los Angeles. The clothes are stunning (a huge understatement), and I couldn't be happier with how this 70’s campaign turned out. It was shot by the amazing Hana Haley.

I headed out to the beautiful Oregon Coast to shoot some behind-the-scenes of a Kinfolk Magazine short film shoot. It was a crazy and fun weekend, from people diving fully-clothed into a freezing lake to chasing the waves on the beach with some of the crew. One of the photos accompanies a post on Steven Alan's blog about Nate. The magazine is about getting together with people and sharing experiences of all kinds, mostly involving food.

I was hired to shoot photos and b-roll for OwnerCamp's Puerto Rico event in 2016.

It was an incredible week of secluded island talks, insight, fun, food and inspiration. I think it's safe to say everyone came away with new tricks up their sleeves and friends as well. 

I headed out to Vieques, a tiny island only reachable by a 10-seater Cessna. It was such a beautiful backdrop for an event about sharing, listening and learning.

In 2013 Adam Lisagor of Sandwich Video and Portland director Jake Hinmon hired me to work on a shoot for Switchboard, an app to grow your network throughout your career. It was a great shoot that weathered rainstorms, hail, newts climbing out of lakes, and so much more.

On this shoot I did the hair, makeup and styling for every actor, including extras.

Tuesdays on Tillamook was a weekly gathering of creatives of all walks in Portland on N Tillamook St. As an ever-rotating team, we shot themed editorials as a collective, each taking on a crew role. 

In 2015, I started coming to TONT and played key hair and makeup artist, as well as stylist, for many of the shoots. I've also taken the lead photographer role when time allows.
