A favorite recurring client is TedxPortland. I am regularly hired to do the hair and makeup for the promotional billboards and digital campaigns, as well as for the speakers at the events themselves. I’ve done hair and makeup for more than 40 speakers to date. The campaigns are featured on the Tedx Portland website, social media, and on billboards and buses across the city. They are also shared across the speakers’ own social media and websites.

I was hired to shoot photos for Adobe's Creative Jam in Portland, Oregon. 

The concept the teams worked on was sustainability, and the apps they produced with the new XD were so cool. 

It was a super-fun night filled with donuts, ideas, talks and collaboration.

My photos from the event were featured on the Adobe blog, across Adobe social media, as well as on the local nightly news.

Portland Center Stage was gearing up for its run of Great Expectations, and they hired me to do makeup for the publicity photos. 

It was so cool to help bring these characters to life and use makeup to tell their stories. From cold but beautiful Estella to ghostly Miss Havisham, I was encouraged to be creative with my techniques and color palette. 

The photos were featured on promotional billboards, print and transportation ads across the city, as well as on the playbill.

Once a year in Portland, Oregon, Andy Baio and Andy McMillan host the festival that brings in creatives, out-of-the-box thinkers, tech innovators, and independent spirits of all kinds for 3 days of food, music, talks by some of the most inspiring and creative people, games, Kickstarter launches and random meet-ups. You do not get the usual cheesy or jargon-filled talks of most conferences, but a truly fresh perspective on being creative and independent in your work and life.

The Atticus Hotel is a woman-owned business and is now one of the best-respected boutique hotels in the country: USA Today's #1 wine country hotel, #3 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards winner, among other accolades. They hired me to shoot photo and video of their space in McMinnville, Oregon. Absolutely a dream to work with this team.

The shoot resulted in promotional photos and a homepage video, plus several 15-second video edits for their social media.

I attended the 2013 XOXO Festival with a press badge this time. I was hired by The Guardian after my 2012 series on the festival to shoot the event for a story on the changing direction of the tech world for their new Sunday magazine The Observer.

IPNC is the International Pinot Noir Celebration, top pick for USA Today’s best wine festival. They hired me to photograph the festival, which brings the top winemakers in the world to Oregon. The festival features an epic salmon bake, 70+ global featured wineries, cuisine from 60 different chefs. An absolute feat to pull off for the IPNC staff and had so much fun working on this project.

Gorjue was created by a woman to blend her love of beauty and food. The lipsticks have little food items incorporated into the designs, with culinary names. It’s such a fun and off-the-wall concept that I couldn’t wait to work with them!

The product is amazing (even the packaging in shipping) and the company is ethically made. I’ve used the lipsticks on many clients, including for the speakers at TedxPortland.

I planned two shoots—one in Portland and one in Austin—where I did photography, video and makeup to showcase the brand for website and social sharing. I kept to the food theme using a diner and a food cart pod as shoot locations.

Jessica Caldwell of Machine Apparel hired me to shoot and do makeup for her winter and spring lookbooks. 

Together we headed out to downtown Portland the Oneonta Gorge in Oregon.

I was hired by the fashion designer of Lykke Wullf to do hair and makeup for her spring lookbook in Los Angeles. The clothes are stunning (a huge understatement), and I couldn't be happier with how this 70’s campaign turned out. It was shot by the amazing Hana Haley.

Flag and Wire coffee is a PNW favorite, especially out in Oregon wine country. Roasted in McMinnville, home of the Spruce Goose, the small but efficient team works insanely hard and their attention to detail is next-level.

I focused my photography and videography on Flag & Wire, but we also cross-promoted with one of their vendors, The Atticus Hotel, who I’ve worked with previously.

Cross-promoting independent businesses only strengthens the local economy and community. This seemed like the perfect pairing :)

I headed out to the beautiful Oregon Coast to shoot some behind-the-scenes of a Kinfolk Magazine short film shoot. It was a crazy and fun weekend, from people diving fully-clothed into a freezing lake to chasing the waves on the beach with some of the crew. One of the photos accompanies a post on Steven Alan's blog about Nate. The magazine is about getting together with people and sharing experiences of all kinds, mostly involving food.

Simple was re-vamping its mission statement and internal purpose campaign and hired me to shoot the photos for it. I ended up photographing real customers all over Portland, as well as the employees at work. 

The final piece that the team unveiled was so beautiful. The words were so moving, and it was really cool seeing how the photos I took complemented those words. Working with Val, Nicolas and the Simple marketing squad was a real treat. The whole shoot was really inspiring to me because there was freedom to find my own meaning and subjects in their message. Plus, they trusted me to shoot the whole thing on film, which is always a bonus.

Update: Sadly Simple has ended, but these photos are more special to me because of it :) They revolutionized the independent banking game during their run.

I founded and ran an independent digital and print magazine about personal style. Over the years we reached an online readership of 400,000 reads per month and grew a worldwide network of creative contributors!

On a daily basis, I collaborated with friends new and old all over the world to create original content, editorials, stories and ongoing projects. I acted as the creative director, handling everything from designing the magazine to curating editorial shoots by theme from contributing artists/writers, photographing editorials, to doing hair, makeup and styling. I also marketed the magazine, including getting it into print and for sale at Skylight Books in Los Angeles and Tender Loving Empire in Portland.

Tuesdays on Tillamook was a weekly gathering of creatives of all walks in Portland on N Tillamook St. As an ever-rotating team, we shot themed editorials as a collective, each taking on a crew role. 

I was key hair and makeup artist, as well as stylist, for many of the shoots. I also took on the lead photographer role when time allowed.

The Bindery is an event space in Oregon wine country, a great backdrop for editorial shoots, but also weddings and events. This was a collaboration to showcase a&bé’s sustainable wedding attire available at their Portland location, with some added b-roll for The Bindery’s social media. A&bé is a national bridal shop with coverage on shows like Love is Blind, etc.
